 Shaving Tips for Men

Q: Can you give some tips for men and shaving? My poor husband's face gets so dry in the winter and shaving everyday seems to make it worse.

A: Here are a few tips to keep your husband's skin looking it's best after shaving. Shaving when the skin is very warm and moist will soften the hair; so for starters, he may want to try shaving in the shower. Using high-glide shaving products, like 808 Washing Foam with glycerin-based wash provides a close, comfortable shave. Changing the blade more frequently will reduce friction against the skin. If your husband has curly beard hair, releasing the curled hair from the skin --gently using tweezers -- prior to shaving will help stop the shaving bumps. Following shaving, splashing the face with 808 After Shave Balancing Lotion will soothe the skin and bring the skin's pH back to normal. After shaving, skin is very vulnerable and susceptible to bacterial infection (especially when there's a cut). 808 After Shave Balancing Lotion's gentle antiseptic formula helps the skin prevent bacterial infection and provides a nice transition to the moisturizer. Applying the 808 Skin Milk with Aloe Vera extract (among others) will properly moisturize and hydrate the skin without feeling greasy. Red, tender shaving bumps are a different issue. These can be treated by a dermatologist who may recommend a combination of a topical antibiotic and/or cortisone cream.
