Q. I have heard that fabric softening sheets
can be irritating to the skin. Is this true?
A. If your skin is dry and/or
sensitive, skip the fabric softening sheets you put in the dryer.
They can leave little fibers in clothing and linens that can get
onto your skin, irritating it and leading to itchy red splotches all
over your body. As a matter of fact, this happened to me and it was
very uncomfortable.
Watch out for this especially after
working out, when your pores tend to open wide from sweating. I get
a lot of questions about back acne. To avoid irritating your skin,
wash all your workout wear in gentle hypoallergenic detergents and
put clothes through an extra rinse cycle.
