Q: I wear glasses. The bridge of my nose is always breaking out. What can I do?
A: First, keep the nosepieces of your specs clean, since dirt and
oil buildup can clog pores and cause breakouts. Swabbing the nosepiece area with
rubbing alcohol will do the trick. Throughout the day, mop up oil on your skin
with
Blotting Papers, such as rice papers not treated with
talc which can flake off on your clothing. Wearing lighter-weight frames can
also help head off zits, since heavier ones tend to pack dirt and oil into
pores.
Finally, you may actually be having an allergic reaction to the
nickel or metal on your frames or the silicone on the nose pads. If this is the
case, you may need to switch to all-plastic frames, which are less likely to be
irritating.
